Minutes for October 12, 2006 General USPA Meeting
The meeting was convened at 8:30 am with a welcome by Terry Stoller, USPA President and a brief review of the agenda for the morning’s meeting.
Chris Frazier, USPA Treasurer, presented the Treasurers report and inquired if members had any questions. None were voiced.
Committee reports followed.
Grade level reports. The 9th grade hosted a successful family gathering on September 30th before the Walsh Jesuit game and plans for a cider and donut treat for the boys later this month. The 10th grade is in the midst of their planning for the boys. The 11th grade is working on its parents’ gathering and event for the boys. The 12th grade class parents sponsored a successful Chipotle lunch for the boys and are planning a parent gathering for November 17th.
Noelle Fazio, Co-Chair of the International Dinner, urged those present to attend the International Dinner on November 11th.
Ed France, Tree Sale Co-Chair, reminded those present about opportunities for volunteers to help with the sale and urged everyone to come to buy a tree. Items other than trees and wreaths will be available for purchase and support of the school and After Prom.
Kelly Biggar, Co-Chair of the Prep Shop, thanked parents for their support of the Prep Shop, indicated that the Prep Shop will be open during the International Dinner, Fall Sports Dessert and Sponsor Conferences, and reminded 9th grade parents who purchased 2010 T-Shirts in late August that their boys may bring those shirts to the Prep Shop to exchange them for shirts with a corrected class list.
Betsy Stueber, Editor of the Valley Voice invited comments and suggestions for future issues.
Noelle Fazio urged parents to “save the date” of April 28th
for Celebration, a
Terry Stoller thanks those present who attended the Strategic Planning Town Hall Forum the evening before and reminded parents to be on the look out and complete the parent questionnaire that will be mailed late October/early November. Steve Murray and the Strategic Planning Committee are actively seeking parent input through the survey.
Parents were invited to two speaker events. Richard Ginsburg will be speaking at
Committee Reports section of the meeting ended with a request to “save the date” of November 17th for the Welcome Reception for Carolyn and Michael Obel-Omia and Connie Waxman reminding parents to consider contributing to the US Annual Fund.
The student leaders of the Student Disciplinary Committee, Neal Sharma and Rahul Madan-Mohan, and Peggy Wielenberg, Faculty Advisor, were introduced. The boys made a formal presentation discussing the committee member selection process, the student infraction review process and structure, and a sample of “penalty” deliberation outcomes. The boys responded to parent queries. Ms. Wielenberg and Mr. Obel-Omia also fielded parent questions.
The meeting ended at 9:15 am.
